MELD Manufacturing Corporation, large scale metal printer OEM, today announced that it has partnered with Sumitomo Corporation, a leading Fortune 500 global trading and business investment company, to become MELD’s first representative in Japan.
“Sumitomo Corporation, one of the most respected companies in Japan, is a trusted partner,” said Nanci Hardwick, CEO of MELD Manufacturing. “Sumitomo’s extensive network and experience in bringing new technologies to market will be invaluable to us as we expand our presence in Japan. Together, we will implement the advantages of additive manufacturing for our customers in shipbuilding, aerospace, and defense.”
Under the terms of the partnership, Sumitomo Corporation will be responsible for sales, marketing, and support of MELD Manufacturing’s products and services in Japan in select industries where large-scale parts are needed most.
This includes installation of MELD printers, which have print volumes measured in meters. MELD® printers use a proprietary additive manufacturing technology to make very large metal parts traditionally only possible with forgings. Additive manufacturing offers a number of advantages over traditional manufacturing methods, including faster production times, reduced costs, and improved quality.
